kayaking in Hawaii

Beaches and Water Sports

Almost any ocean activity is available in or near Kailua-Kona, including but not limited to swimming, sailing, fishing, para-sailing, surfing, sea-kayaking, and of course snorkeling and scuba diving. The Lets Go Hawaii website has a great section on beaches.

Here’s the link to one of our favorite snorkeling beaches, Kahalu’u Beach and a nice virtual tour of the Kailua Pier, a short walk from our condo.

Snorkeling in Hawaii

Snorkeling and Diving

Kona has some of the best diving in the world. Our friends and guests recommend Jack’s Diving Locker for equipment and tours.

Inexpensive snorkeling rentals are available on Alii Drive.

Volcano National Park

Volcano National Park

Volcano National Park is a 2-3 hr drive from YourKonaGetaway, an easy and unforgettable day trip.

As of August 2008, you can see lava flowing into the sea only a two mile hike from the highway on the Hilo side of the park. Please check the web sites below for the latest information.
